As the temperatures drop, it’s not just humans who feel the chill — our furry friends do too! Cold weather can lead to dry skin, irritated paws, and stiff joints for pets. But with a few small changes, you can keep your pet comfortable, happy, and healthy all season long.
Here’s how to support your pet’s winter wellness naturally:
1. Moisturise their skin & coat
Cooler air often means drier skin, not only for us but also our pets can experience flaking, itching, or dull coats.
Try this: our HoneyVet Coat Care Bundle is packed with soothing Kānuka and Kawakawa, designed to gently clean while restoring hydration. Follow that up with our Skin Soothing Spray between baths for an extra layer of protection.
2. Don’t over-bathe
You might not need to bathe your pet as often in winter, but when you do, make it count. Use warm water (never hot), and always dry them thoroughly to prevent chills or damp skin conditions.
A little HoneyVet tip: towel dry + a cosy space heater = ultimate spa day!
3. Protect those paws
Cold, wet ground can lead to cracked or sore paw pads, we recommend wiping their paws after walks, and keep an eye out for redness or dryness. A little spritz of our Soothing Spray can help sooth and protect those pads.
4. Support their joints
Older pets or breeds prone to arthritis can feel stiffer in the cold weather. Provide soft bedding, keep them nice and warm, and check in with your vet about natural joint support if needed.
5. Keep them moving (even if it’s cold)
Movement supports circulation, mood, and coat health for us (and our furry friends!) Shorter walks are fine but just make sure they still get a bit of play or enrichment daily.
Winter doesn’t have to be woeful, with the right care and a little extra attention, your pet can thrive all year round. Natural, vet-formulated products like the HoneyVet range make it easy to protect your pet’s skin, coat, and overall wellness… without any nasties.
